This legendary temple is believed to have been built in the 8th century, around 750 AD, during the reign of the Syailendra dynasty. Construction is estimated to have taken about 75 years, finally completed during the reign of King Samaratungga. Borobudur Temple sits atop a lush green hill, from which you can see the surrounding green hills. The structure is made of millions of stone blocks arranged in three levels that represent the realms of the universe in Buddhist philosophy. This colossal monument is also adorned with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.

  Descend from Punthuk Setumbu hill and rest at the rest area. Optional visit to Gereja Ayam (the Chicken Church), a unique chicken-shaped building

  Continue to Borobudur Temple and explore its grandeur in the morning

  Visit the souvenir center (Borobudur souvenirs and silver crafts)
• 12.00-15.00
  Travel to Ketep Pass Viewpoint + Menara Langit, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Mount Merapi and the cool mountain air
